Outrage in Homa Bay as DCI Team Deployed to Probe Brutal Murder of 13-Year-Old Girl
A wave of grief and fury has swept through Homa Bay County following the horrific murder of a 13-year-old girl. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has confirmed that a special team of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been dispatched from Nairobi to investigate the case.
A Heinous Crime Sparks National Attention
Speaking in Kisumu on Thursday, September 18, Murkomen revealed that the team was sent under the direct orders of Inspector General of Police, Doglas Kanja.
“You are aware that there is a girl who was defiled and brutally murdered,” Murkomen said. “The Police IG has already sent a team from the headquarters to work with the county team to make sure that we get to the bottom of the act that happened yesterday.”
The girl’s body was discovered on Wednesday, September 17, dumped by the roadside. She had gone missing two days earlier, on Monday, after leaving school.

Acid Attack Deepens the Horror
Mbita Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Peter Mutiso confirmed the timeline.
“The girl’s parents reported to us that she did not return home from school on Monday,” Mutiso stated.
Residents believe the girl may have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped. The community is demanding swift justice.
Sexual Violence Surging in Nyanza
During his Kisumu visit, Murkomen also raised alarm over rising sexual assault cases in the Nyanza region. He revealed that such incidents have increased by 31% over the past year, mostly targeting women and children.

“We want to ask churches, our chiefs and assistant chiefs and non-governmental organisations to raise great awareness through open forums,” Murkomen urged. “We must ensure that these criminals are apprehended.”
He blamed the surge on broken family structures and unchecked night parties, calling for community vigilance.
A Nation Demands Justice
The brutal murder has sparked national outrage. Kenyans are demanding accountability, protection for children, and tougher laws against sexual predators.
“This is beyond heartbreaking. We need action, not promises,” said a Homa Bay resident.
As the DCI team begins its investigation, the country watches closely. The pain is raw, the anger is real, and the demand for justice is louder than ever.
