Murkomen Reveals Key Suspects in Lawyer Mbobu’s Brutal Murder
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has confirmed major progress in the investigation into the murder of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu. The respected legal figure was shot dead along Magadi Road on Tuesday evening, sparking national outrage.
While addressing the press in Migori County on Thursday afternoon, Murkomen revealed that detectives had already identified suspects.
“We have been in touch with the DCI since this thing happened, and I am happy to note that there is some progress. Some persons of interest have been identified,” Murkomen stated.
He went on to explain that interrogations were underway.
“Those persons of interest are being interrogated, and so many others are going to be sought,” he added.
Murkomen praised the public for stepping forward with information.
“We thank the eyewitnesses who have already come out who were at the scene and many others who are giving information to the DCI,” he said.
The CS urged more Kenyans to assist investigators.
“Anyone with information should report to the nearest police station,” Murkomen appealed.
He also mourned the late lawyer with heartfelt emotion.

“This is a very sad thing that has happened in our country, and it is akin to what happened to Ong’ondo Were. I feel very sad because Mbobu was my teacher and my friend,” Murkomen said.
DCI officers launched investigations immediately after the incident. Their swift action has already led to the identification of suspects, though no arrests have been confirmed yet.
A post-mortem is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, at Lee Funeral Home. Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor will lead the examination.
The murder of Mbobu has reignited concerns over rising insecurity in Nairobi. Many Kenyans are demanding justice and swift accountability.

Murkomen’s update offers hope—but also raises urgency. The search for truth continues, and the pressure to deliver justice grows stronger by the day.
