Kalonzo’s Wiper Party Transforms Into Wiper Patriotic Front in Honour of Gen Z Protest Victims

In a bold political shift, Wiper Democratic Movement has rebranded to Wiper Patriotic Front, a move that stirred both curiosity and emotion across Kenya’s political landscape.

“Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) intends to change its party name to Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF),” the notice read.

She further clarified that:

“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended change by the political party shall, within seven (7) days from the date of this publication, deposit them with the Registrar of Political Parties.”

The rebrand comes as the country gears up for the 2027 General Election. It also seems closely tied to renewed political messaging targeting youth and honoring those who died during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka made an emotional declaration during a recent campaign rally:

“This name change is more than branding. It’s a solemn tribute to the brave Gen Zs who paid the ultimate price protesting for justice.”

His words struck a chord with many young Kenyans who feel disillusioned with traditional politics. Kalonzo added:

“The Wiper Patriotic Front will carry their spirit forward. We will amplify their voices in every corner of this nation.”

Political Winds of Change

This move aligns with broader shifts in the political arena. Kalonzo’s strategy mirrors actions taken by fellow opposition figures Martha Karua and Rigathi Gachagua, both of whom recently launched new political outfits.

Karua transformed NARC-Kenya into the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), changing its colours from red and white to lilac, white, and purple, and updating its slogan from ‘One Kenya, One Nation, One People’ to ‘Unite, Liberate’

Gachagua, after being ousted from UDA, introduced the Democracy for Citizens’ Party (DCP), complete with the slogan ‘Skiza Wakenya’, a neon green and white emblem, and a symbol of fingers holding an ear.

“Kenya’s political scene is evolving,” remarked political analyst Joseph Mutua. “We’re witnessing a generational reawakening—leaders now must align with new values, or be left behind.”

The Road Ahead

The Wiper Patriotic Front has now set its sights on the youth, aiming to boost voter registration and mobilize for 2027. While some critics dismiss the name change as mere optics, supporters believe it signals a new dawn.

“Wiper’s transformation is not just cosmetic,” said party supporter Mary Nduta. “It’s an emotional promise—to remember, to rebuild, and to rise.”
