Kalonzo Blames Ruto Regime for CBD Chaos, Calls Out Police and IPOA Over Goons’ Violence
Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka has unleashed a scathing attack on President Ruto’s government, blaming it for the violent chaos that rocked Nairobi’s CBD on Tuesday, June 17.
In a strongly-worded statement, Kalonzo accused top oversight institutions of failing Kenyans.
“We are witnessing a clear dereliction of duty on the part of the National Police Service, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),” he stated.
Goons Unleashed as Protesters Demand Justice
Protests erupted in the capital over the alleged killing of blogger Albert Ojwang in police custody. However, what started as peaceful soon turned terrifying.
According to videos and eyewitness reports, suspected goons armed with knives and clubs rode into town on motorbikes and attacked peaceful demonstrators. They snatched phones, handbags, and assaulted civilians in broad daylight.
“Goons supported by the police attempted to disrupt peaceful demonstrations today,” Kalonzo said.
He didn’t mince his words.
“Under Ruto’s orders, these criminals terrorised innocent people exercising their constitutional right to picket,” Kalonzo claimed.

Police Silence Raises Eyebrows
One disturbing detail emerged—police did not confront the armed goons. Instead, videos captured officers standing by or even walking with them. This strange calmness raised fears of collusion between the police and hired attackers.
“The Kenya Kwanza disastrous regime has absolutely failed Kenyans,” Kalonzo added, calling for accountability.
Activist Attacked, Phones Snatched
Vocal activist Hanifa Adan also came forward with her account. She alleged that a police officer snatched her phone during the chaos.
“They didn’t just ignore the goons—they actively enabled them,” she stated.
Though she later recovered her phone, her trust in law enforcement was shattered.
Red Cross: Injuries Reported, Help Deployed
As tensions escalated, the Kenya Red Cross confirmed that several protesters were injured. Emergency teams were quickly dispatched to assist victims caught in the mayhem.
“We’re Tired of Protests,” Goons Claim
In a clip shared widely online, one of the attackers is heard saying:
“We’re tired of these protests. We were sent to clean the streets.”
That single line has sparked uproar.
Mounting Pressure for Action
Kenyans now demand answers. Who sent the goons? Why did police fail to act? As pressure builds, Kalonzo’s voice echoes the public’s fears.

“This is no longer a protest—it’s state-orchestrated violence,” he concluded.
