Wajackoyah Demands International Travel Ban on DIG Lagat Over Blogger’s Death

In a dramatic twist to the ongoing probe into the death of blogger Albert Ojwang, former presidential aspirant and lawyer George Wajackoyah has vowed to drag the matter beyond Kenya’s borders.

During a live interview on NTV on Monday, Wajackoyah boldly stated that he will petition the European Union and US lawmakers to impose a travel ban on Deputy IG Eliud Lagat.

“I will personally contact the EU. I practice law in the UK and EU. I will write to US congressmen,” he said.

He emphasized that Lagat must not leave Kenya unless he steps down from office.

“Kenya’s Justice System Has Never Worked” – Wajackoyah Slams Judiciary

Pressed on why he didn’t trust local legal systems, Wajackoyah responded with a stinging rebuke:

“The criminal justice system in this country does not work—has never worked, and will never work,” he claimed.

He added that Western pressure was the only way to secure justice for Ojwang’s family.

“Unless we borrow a leaf from Burkina Faso, we are stuck. That’s why we are turning to the West,” he added firmly.

IPOA, Interior CS, and DIG Must Go, Says Wajackoyah

Wajackoyah didn’t stop at Lagat. He also called for the resignation of Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, saying both he and IPOA had failed to act on the grave allegations.

He, however, spared Inspector General Douglas Kanja, whom he said had no role in the mess surrounding the case.

“Kanja is clean in this. But Lagat should have stepped aside from day one,” Wajackoyah asserted.

“I Know That Station Like My Palm” – Wajackoyah Recalls Police Roots

Recalling his own days as a police officer at Central Police Station, Wajackoyah said he could sense deception from a mile away.

“I was a police constable there. I understand the dynamics well,” he said.

He accused Lagat of acting as judge in a case where he is a suspect, insisting:

“An accuser cannot become the judge. It’s basic justice.”

Ojwang’s Arrest Linked Directly to Lagat

Earlier, IG Kanja confirmed that Ojwang died while in police custody, after DIG Lagat lodged a formal defamation complaint.

The deceased had allegedly published posts accusing Lagat of corruption within the NPS. The account had over 13,000 followers.

Kanja revealed:

“The DIG had filed a complaint about false information published against him. That’s what led to Ojwang’s arrest.”

Justice on Trial: A Nation Waits

Kenyans now wait. Will the international community act? Will DIG Lagat resign or be forced out? One thing is clear—Wajackoyah is not backing down.
