DCI Boss Links Central Police OCS to Albert Ojwang’s Murder

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohammed Amin has named Central Police Station’s Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Samson Taalam, as the main suspect in the controversial death of teacher and influencer Albert Ojwang.

While addressing the Senate on Wednesday, Amin laid bare disturbing findings.

“Taalam is the OCS of Central Police Station. By the totality of things, he should be treated as the prime suspect,” Amin told Senators.

OCS Declined to Book Ojwang

Amin shocked the chamber further by revealing that Taalam refused to book Ojwang when he was brought in by detectives from Homa Bay on Friday.

“It has further been confirmed that before the booking, the report office personnel called the OCS, who declined to book the suspect,” Amin explained.

Despite this, Ojwang was later recorded under OB number 136/7/6/2025 at 9:35pm and locked up.

Six Officers Interdicted

Following the uproar over Ojwang’s mysterious death, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja suspended Taalam and five other officers connected to the case. These include the deputy OCS, crime aid officer, report officer, cell sentry, and deputy non-commissioned officer.

The sweeping action followed pressure from the public, human rights groups, and lawmakers demanding accountability.

Police Claimed Suicide – But Autopsy Tells a Different Story

Ojwang was pronounced dead on arrival at Mbagathi Hospital on the morning of Sunday, June 8. Initially, police claimed he committed suicide by hitting his head against a wall in the cell.

However, that narrative fell apart after the autopsy report showed otherwise.

According to pathologists, Ojwang died from head injuries, neck compression, and multiple soft tissue trauma— clear signs of third-party involvement.

The Nation Demands Answers

Ojwang’s death has sparked national outrage, protests at City Mortuary, and growing calls for justice. Civil rights groups and citizens alike are demanding swift legal action against the officers involved.

Many are now calling on the Director of Public Prosecutions to immediately act on the findings.

“We won’t accept lies. Justice for Ojwang is justice for all Kenyans,” chanted protestors outside the Senate building.
