According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect arrived in Kenya from Bangkok, cleared immigration, and cunningly attempted to evade customs officials. He pretended to receive a phone call and abandoned two suspiciously heavy bags at the customs screening area.
“Inside the luggage were 41 sachets of bhang, expertly concealed, weighing 41.7 kilograms,” the DCI report revealed.

The suspect had already disappeared from the terminal. But thanks to forensic clues, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit launched a swift manhunt that led them straight to a hotel in Nairobi’s South C estate.
“He was tracked and arrested hours later at a hotel in South C,” said the DCI. “The suspect is now in custody at JKIA Police Station and is being processed ahead of arraignment.”
The bold attempt comes barely a month after a shocking incident involving a 26-year-old Kenyan woman, who was intercepted while trying to smuggle cocaine through JKIA. The woman had ingested pellets of narcotics in a desperate bid to beat airport security.
