MISSING KENYAN ACTIVIST DUMPED IN DIANI: TORTURED, TRAUMATIZED, AND SILENCED

Tension, trauma, and tears have gripped the nation after missing Kenyan activist Mwabili Mwagodi was found dumped in a bush in Diani, Kwale County.

The Vocal Africa champion, who mysteriously vanished in Tanzania last Wednesday, was finally traced early Sunday morning — bruised, shaken, and still reeling from torture.

Human rights groups broke the news with emotion.

“Mwabili has been released and is present with our VOCAL Africa and MUHURI Kenya officers in Mombasa,” confirmed Hussein Khalid, CEO of Vocal Africa.

“Mwabili was dropped in a bush in Kinondo, Kwale County, around 3am, where he walked for about 3km to Diani.”

According to Khalid, after staggering into Diani, Mwabili made a desperate call to his family.

“He managed to call his family, who alerted us, and we sent our officers immediately.”

Shockingly, when he took himself to the police station in Diani, officers attempted to detain him.

“Our officers intervened, and he was released,” said Khalid.
“Presently, Mwabili has been rushed to Pandya Hospital, Mombasa, for a quick medical check-up, after which he will be put on a flight to Nairobi to reunite with his family.”

Speaking to The Standard, a visibly shaken Mwagodi confirmed what many feared — Kenyan police officers were allegedly involved in his cross-border handover.

“Three Kenyan officers were part of the exchange at Lunga Lunga border,” he revealed, his voice heavy with betrayal.

He also disclosed the pain of his captivity.

“I was held and tortured. They took everything — my phones, my laptop, passport, yellow fever book, even my belt and work permit,” he said.

Photographs from Pandya Hospital paint a grim picture. In a wheelchair, Mwagodi looked frail — the cost of activism too painfully visible.

His family had been restless. Just days earlier, his sister Isabella Kituri pleaded with the authorities.

“We just want our brother back. Safe.”

Her cry has now turned into relief — but not without questions.

Mwabili had ruffled political feathers before his abduction. His online mobilization of Gen Z youth and criticism of President Ruto’s church fundraisers made him a target.

Activists now fear a growing trend of enforced disappearances.

“This case is not isolated. It’s a warning,” warned a MUHURI official.

Kenyans are demanding justice. Online, the hashtag #BringBackMwabili trended for days. Now, it has turned into #JusticeForMwabili.

And the message is loud: You can silence a voice, but not the truth.
