Elijah Njoroge: Kenyans React as MP Leaks Vietnam’s Alleged Reply to Kenya’s Plea for Nduta’s Pardon

The fight to save Margaret Nduta from execution in Vietnam has taken a dramatic turn. Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia has leaked what he claims is the Vietnamese government’s firm response to Kenya’s plea for clemency.

Vietnam’s Tough Stance

In a statement allegedly from Vietnamese authorities, the government made it clear that its strict drug laws apply to everyone.

“We understand that you sympathise with your citizen. However, our stance and laws on drugs and corruption are severe. They apply fully to everyone who violates them, including our own Vietnamese citizens,” the statement read.

Vietnamese leaders stressed that no exceptions would be made, even for their own people.

As the leader of Vietnam, I do not interfere when courts sentence even Vietnamese drug dealers. This is not about citizenship; it is about protecting our children from killer substances,” the statement added.

Kenya’s Track Record Questioned

The alleged response also questioned Kenya’s handling of similar cases.

“How many Vietnamese citizens arrested in Kenya have been pardoned?” the statement challenged.

This response has sparked heated debate in Kenya. Many citizens and leaders, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, have called on President William Ruto to intervene and secure Nduta’s release.

Mixed Reactions from Kenyans

Kenyans are divided over the authenticity of the leaked statement and the government’s role in the matter.

Some believe the MP’s revelation, while others question how he accessed the information before an official government response.

John Cheruyot urged caution, saying, “Wait for official communication from relevant authorities!“

Sur Dennis Blessed dismissed the statement, arguing, “I don’t believe this is their reply. I just don’t.”

Others accused the MP of trying to shield President Ruto from criticism.

Ndung’u Wa Kamau Na-Njoki claimed, “This is your handwriting. You authored this to sanitize Ruto because he has been non-committal on Nduta’s case.”

Despite the controversy, some Kenyans are holding onto hope. Catherine Kiuna expressed faith, stating, “Our God is bigger despite the law.”

What Happens Next?

With mounting pressure on the Kenyan government, all eyes are now on President Ruto. Will he step in and negotiate Nduta’s release, or will Vietnam’s iron stance prevail?

As the debate rages on, Kenyans anxiously await an official statement from the government on this life-or-death matter.
