DCI Offers Ksh1M Reward for Capture of Escaped Suspected Serial Killer Collins Jumaisi

Fear and frustration continue to grip Kenyans as Collins Jumaisi, a suspected serial killer, remains on the run. On Tuesday, September 30, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced a Ksh1 million reward for credible information leading to his arrest.

“We Need Your Help”—DCI Appeals to Public for Leads

In a bold move, the DCI urged citizens to come forward with any tip that could help locate Jumaisi.

“The National Police Service hereby pledges a cash reward of Ksh1 million,” the statement read. “We urge anyone with credible information to assist in the re-arrest of the suspect,” it added.

Jumaisi escaped from Gigiri Police Station on August 20, 2024, alongside 12 other suspects—most of them Eritrean nationals.

“He Just Walked Out”—Escape Sparks Outrage and Suspicion

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects simply walked out the main door. Five officers were arrested for allegedly aiding the escape. However, they were released on cash bail of Ksh200,000 each.

“This was not a break-out. It was a walk-out,” a source close to the investigation said.

The escape followed Jumaisi’s arrest in July 2024, after multiple bodies—mostly women—were discovered at a dumpsite in Kware, Mukuru.

“He Confessed to 42 Murders”—Disturbing Details Emerge

During interrogation, Jumaisi allegedly confessed to killing 42 people, including his own wife. The murders reportedly occurred between 2022 and his arrest.

“He admitted to the killings. The evidence recovered was chilling,” a DCI officer disclosed.

Items found in his home included 24 SIM cards, 8 smartphones, 2 feature phones, a laptop, a hard drive, and a machete. Also recovered were 12 nylon sacks, female clothing, bhang, sellotapes, a rope, and two title deeds.

“We Can’t Stay Silent”—Citizen TV Documentary Reignites Public Pressure

The renewed reward offer came days after a Citizen TV exposé questioned the slow progress in tracking Jumaisi. The documentary reignited public anger and demands for accountability.

“The silence is deafening. We need answers,” one viewer commented.

DCI listed several reporting channels, including a toll-free hotline (0800 722 203), WhatsApp (0709 570 000), and emergency numbers 999, 911, and 112.

“Justice Must Prevail”—Kenyans Urged to Speak Up

As the manhunt intensifies, authorities are counting on public cooperation.
