“We Didn’t Abduct Koimburi!”: Police Deny Role in MP’s Shocking Disappearance, Launch Investigation
The disturbing discovery, which sparked widespread outrage, came just hours after churchgoers witnessed men forcefully taking him away on Sunday, May 25.
Shortly after, a video surfaced showing the lawmaker lying helplessly, prompting cries for justice.
Police Speak Out: “We Didn’t Do It”
In a statement on Monday, May 26, Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga denied claims that the National Police Service (NPS) was behind the disappearance.
“The MP has been under investigation over a land matter. Consent to prosecute was issued by the ODPP,” Nyaga said.
He revealed Koimburi had been aware of the ongoing investigations and had fled earlier when police tried to arrest him on Friday.
“He escaped on a motorbike. His driver was arrested and later released,” Nyaga explained.
Probe Into Viral Torture Video Begins
Despite denying involvement, the NPS admitted the shocking video of Koimburi lying on the ground had triggered an investigation.

“Police officers from Juja visited the alleged scene, which has since been thoroughly documented,” Nyaga confirmed.
A special DCI team is now analysing the video and other details to establish what really happened.

“We are urging civilians with any information to come forward,” Nyaga urged.
Gachagua Points Finger at Government
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua added fuel to the fire after visiting Koimburi at Karen Hospital.
Visibly angry, he held a press briefing where he accused state agents of orchestrating the attack.
“This was done by elite officers hired by the government. They tortured him and used chemicals to silence him,” Gachagua claimed.
His emotional statement triggered fierce political debate, with many demanding answers and accountability.
Who’s Telling the Truth?
While police insist they are not to blame, the public remains sceptical. The brutal manner in which Koimburi was found raises many questions.

Was this a botched arrest or a deeper political game?
As investigations continue, one thing is clear—Kenyans want the truth.
