Return of Abductions? Activist Omole Survives Gunfire in Shocking Abduction Attempt!
Officials of the Communist Party of Kenya narrowly escaped a suspected abduction after unidentified gunmen ambushed their vehicle along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
Party General Secretary Booker Ngesa Omole revealed to TUKO.co.ke that his assistant, Jacob Opiyo, along with his uncle and a female passenger, were traveling from Siaya to Nairobi in his official car when they encountered the attackers.
Terrifying Attack on the Highway
Omole explained that the team reached Ngata along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway in Rongai subcounty at around 4:00 a.m. when they noticed two motorbikes and a Probox vehicle following them. Sensing danger, they accelerated towards Nakuru town, hoping to evade their pursuers.
However, as they slowed down near Section 58 in Nakuru Town East, two armed individuals on the motorbikes opened fire. One of the bullets punctured a tire, bringing their car to an abrupt halt, while five more shots were fired in the chaos.
“The assailants were heavily armed and even shot at the bonnet of our vehicle,” Omole recounted. “Strangely, a police patrol vehicle passed by but did not intervene. This was no ordinary robbery. Given the attackers’ confidence, the government could be involved.”
Delayed Police Response and Injured Passenger
Omole added that the police vehicle reappeared about 30 minutes later, this time with reinforcements. By then, one of the female occupants had suffered a gunshot wound to her shoulder. She was rushed to Nakuru PGH Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi for further treatment.
The incident was promptly reported at the Nakuru Central Police Station. Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Serious Crimes Unit have since visited the scene and launched investigations.
A Pattern of Targeted Attacks?
Omole and his party officials believe this attack was not an isolated case.
“A few weeks ago, my house was raided by seven armed men. One of them was shot dead by my security team,” he disclosed. “In this latest attack, our vehicle contained valuables like money and phones, yet the attackers ignored them, which suggests their intention was solely the shooting.”
Omole, a vocal activist, gained prominence during the 2024 Gen Z protests that shook the nation. He had previously voiced fears for his safety after an earlier home invasion, where he claimed the intruders sought to abduct him. During that encounter, he fired shots, fatally hitting one attacker while the rest escaped.
