Jeremiah Kioni Challenges Gachagua on Abductions: “Lives Are at Stake”
The Jubilee Party’s Secretary-General, Jeremiah Kioni, has fiercely criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his remarks on the disturbing wave of abductions in Kenya. Kioni’s fiery response has ignited a national conversation, emphasizing the need for urgent action and responsible leadership.
Kioni Dares Gachagua
On January 2, Kioni took to his official X page to challenge Gachagua to back his claims with evidence. He demanded the former DP reveal the individuals allegedly behind the abductions. Gachagua had previously hinted at the existence of a covert unit responsible for these disappearances. On December 27, he promised to expose their identities, but since then, he has remained silent.
Frustrated by Gachagua’s inaction, Kioni accused him of exploiting the sensitive issue for political gain. “Rigathi Gachagua must stop trivializing the grave issue of abductions in the country. His statements, without actionable disclosures, are both irresponsible and a slap in the face to families suffering from these tragedies,” Kioni declared.
The Stakes Are High
Kioni highlighted the dire consequences of Gachagua’s unsubstantiated claims. According to him, such remarks erode public trust and deepen the anxiety of affected families. “This is not a game nor a platform for empty rhetoric,” Kioni stated. He demanded decisive leadership, urging Gachagua to either provide concrete information or remain silent.

“Lives are at stake, and this matter demands the utmost seriousness. Playing politics with such a sensitive issue is unacceptable and a betrayal of public trust,” Kioni added passionately.
Police Deny Involvement
Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) has distanced itself from allegations of extrajudicial activities linked to the abductions. Inspector General Douglas Kanja emphasized the police’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.
“The police strictly adhere to standing orders and will not partake in such unlawful acts,” Kanja assured. He regretted that the public wrongly associated the police with the abductions without any evidence.
A Call for Leadership
The surge in abductions has left many Kenyan families devastated. With trust in law enforcement and leadership waning, citizens are demanding transparency and accountability. Kioni’s challenge to Gachagua highlights the urgent need for credible leadership in addressing the crisis.
While political drama unfolds, affected families continue to search for answers. Will leaders rise above rhetoric and take action, or will this crisis deepen further?
