Uhuru Kenyatta Breaks Silence: “My Family Was Targeted After 2022 Elections”
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally spoken out about the storm that followed the 2022 general elections. During the Jubilee Party’s National Delegates Conference in Nairobi on Friday, he revealed that his family and close allies were targeted in the aftermath of the polls.
“We Faced Hostility”—Uhuru Opens Up on Post-Election Pressure
Uhuru described the post-election atmosphere as hostile and unsettling. He claimed that unnamed individuals targeted his family and former administration officials.

“Three years ago, at the end of the hotly contested general elections, we faced an atmosphere of hostility,” Uhuru said. “Not only to our party but also to me, members of my family, and my administration,” he added.
Despite the threats, Uhuru said he remained committed to rebuilding Jubilee and ushering in new leadership.
“I stood at this same venue, ready to begin a process that should be normal in any mature democracy,” he stated.
“Politics of Hate Will Destroy Us”—Uhuru Warns Leaders
Uhuru cautioned leaders against embracing bitterness and vengeance. He urged them to focus on unity and service to the people.
“Politics driven by anger and hate will never help us achieve our mission,” he warned. “We must remember that politics is about the will of the people,” he added.
He emphasized that democracy thrives when leaders respect the ballot and the people’s voice.

Uhuru Accuses Ruto’s Government of Misusing Security Forces
“This machine we built was not designed to face its own citizens,” Uhuru said. “It was to protect them, not harm them,” he added.
He expressed concern over the growing fear among Kenyans, blaming it on misuse of power.
“Lind Mama Was Erased”—Uhuru Slams Healthcare Rollbacks
Uhuru also faulted the Kenya Kwanza government for allegedly dismantling healthcare reforms he introduced. He specifically mentioned Lind Mama, a maternal health program, which he claimed was replaced by untested alternatives.
“They erased Lind Mama and replaced it with untried schemes,” Uhuru lamented.
He urged leaders to build on existing programs rather than discard them for political gain.

As the conference ended, Uhuru’s words left a powerful message—leadership must protect, not punish.
