Ruto Forms Multi-Agency Anti-Graft Team With KRA, NIS, and EACC
President William Ruto has unveiled a powerful multi-agency team to spearhead Kenya’s war against corruption. The move comes barely a day after he publicly warned lawmakers over bribery and unethical dealings.
A United Front Against Corruption
In a statement on Tuesday, Ruto announced the creation of the Multi-Agency Team on War Against Corruption (MAT). He said the team will foster synergy, boost coordination, and strengthen collaboration among government institutions.
“The MAT shall, to the greatest extent possible, foster cooperation, coordination, and collaboration to enhance the effectiveness of the fight against corruption,” Ruto stated.
The President emphasized that corruption is a national threat that weakens development and steals opportunities from ordinary citizens.

Who Sits in the Team?
It brings together key institutions, including the National Intelligence Service (NIS), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Also represented are the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Asset Recovery Agency (ARA), Financial Reporting Centre (FRC), Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).
According to Ruto, the team can also co-opt representatives from other agencies whenever necessary to strengthen its operations.

Clear Mandates
Ruto explained that MAT will focus on boosting inter-agency cooperation, tackling economic crimes, and building systems that make corruption difficult to thrive.
The team will also engage the private sector and international partners to strengthen accountability. Furthermore, MAT will design strategies to raise public awareness about progress in the fight against graft.
“The team shall provide a platform for sharing best practices and innovative approaches to tackling corruption across Kenya,” Ruto added.
Funding the War
The President clarified that MAT will be financed from the budgets of its member agencies. He also hinted at “other sources” of funding but did not specify.
Kenyans Await Action
While unveiling the team, Ruto urged Kenyans to remain vigilant. He insisted that every agency must deliver results, warning that graft will no longer go unpunished.

For millions of citizens struggling with high living costs, the announcement raises hope that public funds will finally be safeguarded.
