ODPP Orders Arrest of Isiolo Governor Guyo Over Hotel Raid Linked to Impeachment Battle

Governor Accused of Raiding Hotel Meeting
According to the ODPP, Governor Guyo and the accused stormed a Machakos hotel on June 19. Inside, they allegedly confronted former Isiolo County Chief Officer of Health, Abdirahaman Mohamed, and 15 MCAs allied to Guyo’s impeachment.
“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) wishes to inform the public of the impending arrest and arraignment of Isiolo Governor Ibrahim Abdi Hassan alias Guyo and seven other individuals in connection with serious criminal offences,” the ODPP said.
Sources close to the incident claim tension filled the room as tempers flared between rival political camps.
Political Tension in Isiolo
The raid reportedly came at the height of Guyo’s impeachment drama. MCAs backing the motion had retreated to Machakos to strategize, but the meeting turned chaotic after the unexpected intrusion.
“The Isiolo County boss, together with the seven accused, raided a hotel in Machakos County where former Isiolo County Chief Officer of Health and 15 MCAs were holding a meeting,” ODPP reiterated.
The confrontation deepened divisions in Isiolo politics and set the stage for one of the county’s most bitter disputes.
Senate Halts Impeachment
Despite the fiery events, the Senate later intervened. It considered preliminary objections, including whether the County Assembly had legally convened and whether valid court orders existed at the time.
In the end, the Senate terminated the impeachment motion, handing Guyo temporary relief and allowing him to continue as governor.
However, today’s announcement by the ODPP has revived the controversy and left many wondering if Guyo’s political career is hanging by a thread.
