Nairobi MCAs Convene Special Sitting to Deliberate Sakaja’s Impeachment
MCAs Unite Against Sakaja
On Tuesday, August 26, Speaker Ken Ngondi chaired a tense Speaker’s Kamkunji where MCAs vented frustration. The ward leaders accused Sakaja of betraying residents by failing to deliver on his campaign pledges.
South B MCA Chege Waithera confirmed the decision to begin the ouster process.
“There are so many stalled projects within the wards, and residents are constantly asking why they haven’t been completed,” Waithera said.
She claimed both UDA and ODM MCAs had reached a bipartisan consensus.

“Signature collection will start very soon, and all members are coordinated. We had about 96 members attend the Kamkunji, which is well above the required threshold,” Waithera added.
Claims of Broken Promises
Waithera also accused Sakaja’s administration of neglecting even the most basic service delivery. She said residents were losing patience with poor waste management, collapsed roads, and unfulfilled promises.
Her sentiments were echoed by Nairobi CBD MCA Mwaniki Kwenya, who blasted Sakaja over his recent political realignments.
“The governor has lost touch with the needs of Nairobians and the confidence of this house,” Kwenya declared.
Kwenya further faulted Sakaja for working closely with ODM leaders after the party signed an MoU with the Kenya Kwanza government.
Retreat in Naivasha
The impeachment process will be formalised during a retreat in Naivasha on Tuesday, September 2. At the retreat, MCAs plan to begin collecting signatures to support the motion. If successful, Sakaja could soon face the full wrath of the assembly.

Sakaja Joins Growing List of Embattled Governors
The looming showdown in Nairobi has now placed Sakaja’s political future on the line, with residents watching keenly.
For many Nairobians, the question remains: can Sakaja survive the storm or will he fall like others before him?
