Moses Kuria Condemns Rising Abductions Under Ruto’s Government: “Do Not Approve”
Nairobi – Moses Kuria, President Ruto’s senior economic advisor, has spoken out against increasing abductions in Kenya. His remarks have added to public outcry over the disappearance of government critics.
Another Government Critic Missing
Cartoonist Gideon Kibet, known as Kibet Bull, is the latest victim. His family reported his disappearance alongside his brother, Rony Kiplangat, on December 21.
Kibet, an Egerton University student, became popular for his bold political satire. He often created silhouette illustrations of President Ruto and other leaders, sparking both admiration and controversy.
Kuria Speaks Out
Kuria denounced the abductions, aligning himself with critics of these oppressive actions. He argued that such tactics betray the democratic principles Kenya fought to establish.
“On Saba Saba Day 1990, I was a prospective University of Nairobi Student but as a young activist who would rise to be SONU 92 Treasurer, I was trusted by akina Jaramogi, Wangari Maathai, Ngengi Muigai, James Orengo etc to coordinate Kiambu and Muranga Maandamanos. I am sure the entire team of my seniors then DO NOT approve the abductions of today,” Kuria said.

A Grim Reminder of the Past
Kuria linked the current abductions to the dark days of the KANU regime, when enforced disappearances were common. He highlighted the irony of leaders who once fought for democracy tolerating such actions.
His statements fueled intense discussions online. Many Kenyans expressed frustration over the government’s silence, calling for immediate action to end the disappearances.
Demanding Accountability
By condemning these abductions, Kuria reminded leaders of their duty to uphold democratic values. His comments serve as a wake-up call to the government, urging them to address public concerns.
Meanwhile, the cases of Kibet and his brother remain unresolved, leaving families desperate for answers. The growing tension underscores the need for swift action and transparent leadership.
