Kalonzo Drops Major Hint at Alliance With Sifuna After Surprise Kwale Meeting
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stirred fresh political debate after meeting ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna in Kwale on Thursday, August 14.
Kalonzo’s Teasing Message
After the event, Kalonzo took to social media with a cryptic post.
“Had a productive chat with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in Kwale this afternoon. Exchanged numbers – I have a feeling this connection could lead to some exciting things,” Kalonzo wrote.
He ended with the hashtag #futurethinking, leaving many wondering if a new alliance is in the making.

Why This Meeting Matters
Sifuna’s political future in ODM has been uncertain in recent weeks. His outspoken criticism of his party has made him a controversial figure.
On August 12, he met MPs Gathoni Wamuchomba, Caleb Amisi, and others for a private lunch. Details of the talks were never disclosed.
Sifuna’s Defiance
The Nairobi Senator has repeatedly clashed with his party’s stance.
“I am willing to read whatever statement ODM releases, even if it insults me. But if they ever decide to support Ruto in 2027, I will not read that, and I will not be part of it,” Sifuna declared in a recent TV interview.
He has also described ODM as “confused,” sparking heated reactions among party loyalists.

Kalonzo’s Firm Opposition Stand
Kalonzo has equally been vocal about resisting Kenya Kwanza’s rule. He insists he will fight to ensure President Ruto serves only one term.
“Anyone thinking that Kalonzo Musyoka or Eugene Wamalwa or Rigathi Gachagua or Martha Karua or Fred Matiang’i or any other of our colleagues in the united opposition will be bought, intimidated, or compromised to abandon this nation, clearly must be day-dreaming,” Kalonzo told reporters on August 9.
Political Speculation Intensifies
The Kwale encounter between Kalonzo and Sifuna has ignited debate over the possible political realignment.

For now, neither has confirmed a formal alliance. Yet, with both leaders facing shifting political landscapes, this new “connection” could reshape the country’s political map.
