John Mbadi Promises Loyalty to Ruto: ‘I Will Not Betray Him’
Homa Bay’s political landscape shifted when Treasury CS John Mbadi pledged loyalty to President William Ruto. Speaking in Ndhiwa constituency on December 17, Mbadi highlighted the trust Ruto placed in him by appointing him to lead the Finance Ministry.
“A president can assign any ministry, but Finance is different,” Mbadi said. “Given the trust and risk he took, it will be very difficult for me to betray him.”
Focused on Delivering Results
Mbadi expressed his desire to work diligently for Ruto’s administration. He clarified that his allegiance doesn’t mean pressuring Kenyans to re-elect Ruto. Instead, he wants his work to speak for itself.
“We’re not in the debate of chest-thumping about re-election,” Mbadi said. “What I want is to deliver results for him.”
He emphasized the need to address inefficiencies in government systems. He added that delivering tangible outcomes would make a case for another term for Ruto’s administration.
Praising Ruto’s Leadership
Mbadi described Ruto as a leader committed to serving all communities in Kenya. His positive remarks suggested growing political harmony between leaders from diverse backgrounds.
In a separate statement, Mbadi said he would support Ruto in the 2027 general election—unless Raila Odinga, his former ally, decides to run.
A Significant Political Shift
This move represents a dramatic shift for Mbadi, who was once aligned with the opposition. His loyalty signals a strengthening relationship between Ruto’s government and leaders from previously opposing factions.
Mbadi’s statements also highlight a broader strategy of inclusivity within Ruto’s administration. The focus remains on results, collaboration, and strengthening the country’s governance.
