IG Kanja Orders Transfer of Senior Police Officers From Narok County After Violent Clashes
In a bold and emotional address during a security consultative meeting, IG Kanja took decisive steps to calm tensions and restore trust.
DCIO and GSU Commander Ordered Out
The top brass in the area is now on the move.
“I have heard you citizens saying that you want the DCIO gone. The DCIO should be reassigned, Mr Amin, back to the headquarters for other duties. Bring someone who will be capable of working for the citizens here,” Kanja ordered.
The crowd erupted in cheers. But he wasn’t done.
“The GSU commander should also follow the same suit and should be reassigned elsewhere,” Kanja added.
His directive came amid mounting public outcry, triggered by the brutal killing of five locals during a land-related protest. The response from security forces had stirred deep anger.
Investigations Launched Immediately
Kanja didn’t just issue transfers. He also revealed that investigations into the killings had already started.
“Investigations have already been instituted, and all the investigators in Nairobi are here with you. They must establish the truth, and anyone found culpable will carry their own cross and must be held responsible for their actions,” he affirmed.
A special DCI team from Nairobi is now on the ground. Their mission is simple: uncover the truth and bring justice.

Appeal for Calm and Peace
While emotions ran high, Kanja urged the locals to avoid further clashes. He stressed the need for cooperation.
“Help us return calm. Open the roads. Let people and transport move freely,” he pleaded.
Many had blocked roads in protest. But Kanja’s message was clear—peace must return.
Hostile Welcome for IG Kanja
Eventually, leaders showed up, the crowd calmed, and the meeting proceeded.

Hope Amid Anger
This swift action offers a glimmer of hope. The community, scarred by violence, now demands accountability and peace. Kanja’s response may be the first step toward healing.
