Outrage in Narok as Police Allegedly Kill Five Over Land Dispute
Shock and heartbreak have gripped Narok County after five people were allegedly shot dead over a disputed land issue.
The tragic incident unfolded Monday afternoon in Angata Barikoi, Kilgoris, fueling anger and sorrow among residents.
A Protest Turns Deadly
According to reports, the victims were protesting against the alleged grabbing of 6,300 acres of land.
However, instead of a peaceful demonstration, the protest ended in bloodshed.
Eyewitnesses claim police officers opened fire on the unarmed protestors, leaving five dead.
Although investigations are ongoing, the incident has triggered widespread outrage across the region.
Senator Ledama Olekina Speaks Out
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina swiftly condemned the killings.
In an emotional statement, he said, “I am deeply saddened by the reported news of the killings in Angata Barikoi.”
Moreover, he offered condolences to the grieving families.
“My heartfelt condolences to all affected,” he expressed.
Importantly, Olekina assured residents of his unwavering support.
He declared, “I want to assure you that no one can take your land from you.”

Pledge to Stand With the Community
Beyond offering condolences, the Senator pledged direct action.
“As your Senator, I stand firmly with you in this difficult time,” he affirmed.
He further promised to visit Angata Barikoi soon.
“I will visit the area soon to gain a better understanding of the situation and offer my support,” Olekina announced.
Clearly, his words provided some hope to a community struggling with fear and frustration.
A Growing Crisis Over Land Ownership
Meanwhile, land disputes remain a sensitive and recurring issue in many parts of Kenya.
Tragically, tensions over land ownership often escalate into violence, as seen in this case.
Although authorities have not released an official statement, residents are demanding answers and justice.
Thus, pressure is mounting on both local and national leaders to intervene and prevent more bloodshed.
Calls for Justice Grow Louder
Consequently, human rights groups have already called for immediate, transparent investigations.
They insist that those responsible for the killings must be held accountable without delay.
Furthermore, the families of the deceased deserve justice and closure.
As the dust settles in Angata Barikoi, many wonder if their cries for fairness will finally be heard.
