George Natembeya Dismisses Claims of Recruiting Goons Ahead of 2027: “I’m On a Different Level”
While addressing mourners at his grandson’s burial in Kibomet, Kiminini, on April 5, Natembeya dismissed the allegations as pure propaganda aimed at turning the people against him.
“When I say I’m a commando, some say I have formed a militia,” he said. “My militia is the people of Trans Nzoia. Only that. So people from outside should not come to Trans Nzoia to bring divisions in our county.”
“I’m On a Different Level” – Natembeya Fires Back
Natembeya accused unnamed political rivals of fueling tension through media. He claimed some leaders were using radio platforms to spread inciting messages against his administration.
“Some people go to radio stations and spend close to three hours talking about me,” he said. “As if that is what they were elected to do.”
He made it clear he will not respond to such criticism directly anymore.
“I’m now on a different level. Whatever they speak henceforth will be responded to by the likes of Erick, Kutere, and Manuh,” he added, referring to local leaders allied to him.
Tawe Movement: Unity or Tribalism?
Critics have also targeted Natembeya’s Tawe Movement, accusing it of advancing tribal politics.

However, Natembeya firmly rejected that narrative. He said calling for Luhya unity should not be mistaken for tribalism.
“Whenever I talk about our unity, it does not mean I am a tribal leader,” he explained. “Tribalism is a different thing from unity of people from one tribe.”
Power Should Serve, Not Intimidate
Natembeya urged politicians to use their power for the good of the people, not for selfish gain.
“If you are a Member of Parliament, governor or even the president, just remember that power is transient,” he said.
“You lose 95% of your followers the moment you exit that powerful office. Therefore, use power to benefit the people you lead.”
No Fear for Ruto or Farouk Kibet
Earlier, Natembeya had responded to Farouk Kibet’s criticism, clarifying that respecting the president is not the same as fearing him.
“I fear no one,” he said. “Leaders are not meant to be feared. When they are feared, we invite dictatorship
