Musalia Mudavadi Breaks Silence: “I’m Not Leaving UDA, I’m Firmly in Government”
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has come out strongly to shut down rumors of political betrayal. On Sunday, April 6, Mudavadi dismissed claims linking him to a new political outfit.
“I am fully aligned with the Kenya Kwanza government and have no intention of joining another political outfit,” a statement from his press director, Jacob Ng’etich, read in part.
This statement comes after swirling reports suggested Mudavadi had thrown his weight behind a new party called Umoja Summit Party (USP).
Mudavadi Stands with Ruto
Although some former Amani National Congress (ANC) allies have voiced discontent since the merger, Mudavadi remains clear on where he stands.
He reinforced his loyalty to President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. “Throughout his political life, Mudavadi has maintained integrity, honesty, and dignity,” Ng’etich stated.
He added that Mudavadi’s values are rooted in unity and cohesion, not division. “He remains committed to serving the people of Kenya and upholding unity within the ruling coalition.”

Why the Confusion?
After the dissolution of ANC, some of Mudavadi’s close associates reportedly formed the Umoja Summit Party. This sparked speculation that he had silently endorsed their actions.
The statement clarified that while some former ANC leaders may have moved on, they still hold senior roles within the ruling coalition. One even serves as the deputy party leader.
Despite their new paths, Mudavadi insists his political loyalty has not wavered.
Rift in ANC?
A few ANC members who opposed the merger accused Mudavadi of making major decisions without consulting them.
They felt betrayed and vowed to reject the merger entirely. These frustrations may have contributed to the formation of USP, now at the center of the storm.
Even so, Mudavadi remains unmoved. He dismissed the noise, choosing instead to focus on his government duties and responsibilities.
A Message to the Public
The press office emphasized that media outlets should verify their sources before reporting such claims.
“Let it be known—Mudavadi is not part of any new political formation,” the statement concluded.
As political temperatures rise, Mudavadi’s public reassurance may help restore calm among Kenya Kwanza supporters and silence speculators.
