Gachagua claimed Ruto was using money handouts to repair his broken relationship with citizens. He urged locals to accept the money but reject the President at the ballot.
“As the leader of Mt Kenya, the President will bring a lot of money here. We cannot bury an elephant with its tusks. Take the money but do not give him our votes,” Gachagua declared.
His remarks drew loud cheers from the crowd, signaling growing discontent with Ruto’s administration in the region.

The outspoken DCP leader also blasted Ruto for dismissing former Attorney General Justin Muturi from Cabinet. He said Mt Kenya must respond firmly to the insult.
“You cannot fire our own and expect us to clap. The community must teach him a lesson,” Gachagua said.
