Cop Shakur and Ex-KDF Soldier Osoi Walk Free on Ksh50,000 Bail
On Friday, August 8, Magistrate Richard Koech at Kahawa Law Courts granted each a Ksh50,000 cash bail or Ksh200,000 bond with surety.
“Having considered the entire circumstances of this matter, I do allow the consolidated application allowing them a bond of Ksh200,000 with a surety of a similar amount, or a cash bail of Ksh50,000,” Koech ruled.
The court also released police constable Hiram Kimathi under similar terms.
Arrests That Shook the Nation

Osoi and Kihara’s arrest came in a tense operation carried out by heavily armed officers. Osoi’s communications team described it as an “abduction,” sparking outrage among supporters.
The Man Behind FBI
Patrick Osoi, a former KDF Special Forces soldier, NIS officer, and US Army veteran, insists the movement is about justice.
“Having served as a KDF Special Forces soldier, NIS officer, and US Army veteran, I took the solemn initiative of forming a movement dubbed Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI),” Osoi stated.
He explained that FBI is made up of ex-officers who were dismissed for rejecting unlawful orders or siding with civilians during anti-government protests.
“We will fight for every Kenyan mistreated by rogue police, for families of those killed, and for officers neglected by the very system they served,” Osoi declared. “This is a fight for justice.”
Babu Owino Steps In
Their defence team was led by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who celebrated the court’s decision. The legislator has been a vocal critic of police brutality and often speaks out for officers facing unfair treatment.

With their release, attention now turns to the next phase of investigations. Detectives insist the probe into FBI’s alleged activities is far from over.
A Divided Public Opinion
The arrests and subsequent release have sparked heated debate. Supporters hail Osoi and Kihara as heroes standing against impunity. Critics, however, warn that their group’s actions must remain within the law.
As the case unfolds, one thing is clear — the fight between state security agencies and activist movements is intensifying. The outcome could reshape Kenya’s debate on police accountability and citizen rights.
