Senator Ali Roba Demands Gachagua’s Arrest Over Explosive Al Shabaab Claims
On Thursday, August 7, Roba accused Gachagua of fabricating stories for cheap political mileage. He dismissed allegations that Ruto secretly met Al Shabaab leaders during a recent trip to Mandera.
“As a leader who personally accompanied the President, I affirm without fear of contradiction that he only met officially recognised Mandera leaders and the public in open forums,” Roba declared.
No Secret Meetings, Roba Says
The Senator stressed that every detail of Ruto’s one-day itinerary was open to public scrutiny. He said there were no private or suspicious encounters

“It is deeply unfortunate that a man who once postured as a symbol of truth has now reduced himself to a serial purveyor of falsehoods, unable to recall the last time he spoke the truth,” he stated.
Roba warned that such accusations could destabilise fragile relations with marginalised communities.
“Such conduct is not only disgraceful, it is dangerous, especially when deployed to distort presidential engagements with historically marginalised communities,” he added.
Call for Immediate Arrest
In a hard-hitting statement, Roba demanded Gachagua’s arrest upon his return to Kenya. He urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to move quickly.
He also called on the United States government to ignore Gachagua’s claims, which he described as reckless lies.
“To twist this clear and just position into a false narrative of national insecurity is reckless, dishonest, and deeply disrespectful to the people of Northern Kenya,” Roba said.
The Allegations That Sparked the Storm
“We want to know why you are working with Al Shabaab. When you were in Mandera, you met three Al Shabaab leaders at night,” Gachagua alleged.
He went further, warning of international security risks.

“The Americans are concerned that suspected terrorists will be registered as Kenyans and they will find their way to America and the rest of the world to cause terror,” he added.
Political Temperatures Rising
The confrontation has escalated political tensions, with Roba framing Gachagua’s remarks as a direct threat to national unity. With the DCI yet to comment, Kenyans now wait to see whether the war of words will lead to real legal action.
