Gachagua Demands Arrest of Police After Murang’a Chaos: “Justice Will Be Served!”

Tension gripped Murang’a on Sunday after police allegedly attacked close allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua outside a church.

The leaders, including Nyandarua Senator John Methu, had just finished attending a service when chaos broke out at Ngonda Shopping Centre.

They were reportedly en route to another rally when their convoy was stopped by police.

“What have we done? What is the problem with addressing the people?” Senator Methu was heard pleading with one officer, moments before tear gas canisters filled the air.

Within seconds, the situation spiraled. Teargas was fired. Vehicles screeched. People scattered. Several individuals suffered injuries, while bullets damaged vehicles.

But Gachagua, visibly angry, did not hold back.

“I call for the immediate arrest and arraignment of these criminals and police officers,” he declared in a strongly worded statement on his official X account.

He accused top security bosses of turning a blind eye as violence continues to target him and his supporters.

“I want to remind the police officers being misused by William Ruto and, by extension, the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, that justice will be served no matter how long it takes,” Gachagua warned.

He went on to describe the Sunday attack as both “cowardly and ungodly.”

“Mr. William Ruto, what do you gain through deaths and bloodshed?” he questioned emotionally.

“How do you go to church and reconcile your conscience at the Holy Altar while you instruct your police and goons to kill Kenyans in the same neighbourhood?” Gachagua added.

He accused the president of abusing power and undermining the constitution.

“For how long will you repress the people of Kenya and mutilate our constitution?” he asked.

“Do you think Kenyans will love you by force and intimidation?”

As the country continues to reel from escalating political tension, this incident has only deepened public concern.

Many Kenyans online called for calm, while others echoed Gachagua’s sentiments.

Meanwhile, police bosses have remained silent.

However, observers say the Murang’a incident could trigger further political unrest if not urgently addressed.
