“The DCI officers made an impromptu visit to Boniface’s home, ransacked the house and arrested him without a court order,” Kamau stated.

The activist’s supporters have condemned the arrest, terming it unlawful and a violation of human rights. They also claim the charges — terrorism and arson — are vague and unfounded.
Furthermore, civil rights groups across East Africa are expressing solidarity with Mwangi. They accuse regional governments of suppressing activists through state-sanctioned violence and illegal detentions.
