Babu Owino Demands Ban on Tanzanian President Suluhu: “Don’t Ever Come to Kenya!”
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has sparked a political storm, demanding that Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu be barred from stepping into Kenya.
Babu expressed fury over the move, terming it a “blatant violation of human rights” and a slap in the face of Kenya-Tanzania diplomacy.
“It’s very worrying to mistreat Kenyans when they come to Tanzania,” Babu said on Sunday, March 18.
“Detaining at Julius Nyerere Airport is demeaning, unnecessary, and a violation of rights.”
MP Goes for the Jugular

“Don’t ever come to Kenya if you can’t behave,” the firebrand MP warned.
“We will not entertain such conduct unbecoming of a leader.”
Why Were Karua and Team in Tanzania?
Karua and two other lawyers were reportedly invited by the East Africa Law Society (EALS).

They intended to attend a court session tied to Tundu Lissu, a former Tanzanian opposition leader.
However, upon arrival, immigration officers confiscated their passports, held them without explanation, and later deported them.
Karua’s mistreatment drew immediate backlash from civil society, lawyers, and politicians.
National and Regional Leaders Condemn Tanzania
Activist Boniface Mwangi didn’t mince words. He blamed President Suluhu for silencing dissent ahead of elections.
Former LSK president Nelson Havi questioned the East African Community’s role if legal professionals are denied entry.
“What is the purpose of the East African Community if Martha Karua is denied entry into Tanzania?” Havi asked.
“President Ruto must address this with Samia Suluhu. If not, expel the Tanzanian ambassador.”
What Happens Next?
With growing pressure, the spotlight now turns to President William Ruto.
Will Kenya confront Tanzania head-on? Or will diplomacy bury the outrage?

As Babu Owino insists, Kenya deserves respect—nothing less.
