Kalonzo Musyoka Denounces ‘Fake’ Ruto Diplomatic Appointment Claims
Viral Fake Post Sparks Public Confusion
On Thursday afternoon, Kalonzo rubbished a social media post claiming he had been appointed to preside over a peace dialogue in Abidjan ahead of the West African nation’s elections.
The fabricated post, which began circulating on Wednesday, August 6, alleged the Azimio principal was part of an African Union delegation. It even carried a forged signature falsely attributed to AU Commission Chairperson Mahamoud Youssouf.

Part of the fake document read:
“This mission builds on Musyoka’s extensive continental experience, including his successful mediation in South Sudan and prior shuttle diplomacy in Côte d’Ivoire.”
Kalonzo Hits Back at Political Rivals
The post quickly gained traction, prompting calls from Kenyans for clarification amid speculation about Kalonzo’s links to Ruto’s administration.
Kalonzo wasted no time in setting the record straight.
“Absolutely fake! I will always stand with the people of Kenya. I will not dialogue with those who abduct young Kenyans,”
he wrote on social media.
He accused political opponents of orchestrating the smear campaign to tarnish his image. The former Vice President vowed to keep challenging what he described as a repressive regime.
Fresh Attack on Ruto’s Leadership
This denial comes barely five days after Kalonzo tore into President Ruto for allegedly undermining the rule of law and intimidating independent institutions.
Speaking on Sunday, August 3, the Wiper leader also slammed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s youth empowerment programmes.
“This employment thing amounts to a misuse of office; they think they can bribe Kenyans. They will not get away with it,”
Kalonzo said during the event.
Concerns Over Political Misinformation
The incident adds to growing concern over the spread of political disinformation in Kenya, especially in an era where fake documents can quickly go viral. Analysts warn such fabrications can damage reputations and sow mistrust among the public.

Kalonzo’s rebuttal is seen as part of his broader effort to position himself as a steadfast opposition figure ahead of the next political showdown.
