Reuben Kigame Seeks Alliance with Omtatah as They Eye 2027 Presidency: “You’re Worthy Competitor”

Reuben Kigame, founder of the Jenga Mkenya Movement, has proposed an alliance with Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah for the 2027 presidential race. Kigame, in a heartfelt message, hailed Omtatah as a “worthy competitor” who shares a vision of transformative leadership.

Kigame praised Omtatah’s ideologies of eradicating corruption and fostering value-based governance. “You are a breath of fresh air, and Kenya is blessed to have you alive at this time. I hope your presidential exploration team will have the humility to collaborate with mine,” Kigame wrote. He also wished Omtatah a happy birthday, expressing hope for a shared path to leadership. “May the Lord grant that we form the next government together, with either you or Kigame as the next president,” he added.

As Omtatah launches his campaign through a 10-member secretariat to assess his bid, Kigame has taken his vision abroad. Over three months, Kigame has met Kenyans in the diaspora, focusing on their role in his envisioned government. He stated, “I’ve held meetings in cities like Columbus, Indianapolis, and Baltimore, discussing policy development and consolidating diaspora support.”

Despite his global engagements, Kigame remains critical of President William Ruto’s administration. He accuses Ruto of manipulating the 2022 elections and surrounding himself with corrupt officials. Kigame argued, “His government has over-taxed citizens, mismanaged the economy, and compromised Kenya’s sovereignty through flawed deals.”

While balancing his political ambitions, Kigame is pursuing a doctoral degree at Calvin University. His dissertation explores music’s role in social transformation, blending his passion for music with justice. He explained, “I believe in earning achievements through hard work, unlike the culture of honorary degrees in Kenya.”

Meanwhile, Omtatah has faced criticism from COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, who questioned his financial readiness for a presidential campaign. Omtatah retorted that leadership stems from vision and integrity, not wealth or privilege.

As the 2027 elections approach, Kigame and Omtatah’s shared ideologies may redefine Kenya’s political landscape.
