Speaking on Wednesday, September 17, Murkomen condemned the rising trend of politicians using gangs to intimidate opponents and destabilize gatherings.
“Within the next month, we need to see most of these gang leaders, gangs, and goons facing the full force of the law,” Murkomen declared.

“This business of hiring goons has become lucrative. It’s widespread and dangerous,” he added.
The CS stressed that such practices threaten democracy and must be stopped before the by-elections begin.
Nomination and registration of candidates will take place on October 8 and 9. The elections will fill over 20 vacant seats, including ward, constituency, and senatorial positions.

Additionally, voters will elect new leaders in Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja constituencies. Baringo will also vote for a new senator.
Call for Peaceful Campaigns
Murkomen urged all candidates to campaign peacefully and respect the law. He warned that any attempt to incite violence would be met with swift justice.
“We will not allow criminals to hijack our elections. Kenya must move forward,” he concluded.
