Wednesday(TODAY) Power Outages to Hit Nairobi, Kilifi, Narok, and Kwale: What You Need to Know
Today,Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions in four counties on Wednesday. The outages will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., varying by region. According to KPLC, these interruptions aim to facilitate critical system maintenance to improve reliability.
In an official statement, the utility company apologized for the inconvenience and promised to expedite the maintenance process. “We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused during this period and appreciate your understanding,” KPLC stated.
Nairobi: Schools, Markets, and Shopping Centers Affected
Several areas in Nairobi will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These include Dagoretti Children’s Home, Dagoretti Market, Gitiba Primary, Kirigu Primary, Gachui, Waithaka Shopping Centre, and parts of Kikuyu and Dagoretti Roads. Additionally, Kirigu Cemetery and Patheneous will be affected.
Kilifi: Markets and Residential Areas on the List
In Kilifi County, power will be off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas like Krystal Line Salts Gongoni, Malindi Salt Works, Kensalts Gongoni, Gongoni Market, and Kakuyuni Market will be affected. Residential zones such as Savanna Residence, Mijikenda Residence, KBC, and Adu Kamale are also on the list. Key landmarks, including Garashi Dispensary and Marafa Market, will experience disruptions.

Narok: Early Morning Disruptions for Rural Areas
Residents in Narok will face outages earlier, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Affected areas include Motonyi, Rotian, Kisiriri, Naisoya, Enengetia, and Enabelbel. Other regions such as Olokirkirai, Tipis, Oloropil, Topoti, Empatpat, and Olchorro are also included.
Kwale: Businesses and Residents to Feel the Impact
Parts of Kwale County will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected areas include Kentaste, Shamu, Kona Musa, Babla, Mwapala, Maasai Corner, and adjacent customers.
The interruption could disrupt operations for businesses like Kentaste, which heavily depend on continuous electricity supply.
KPLC’s Call for Patience
Kenya Power emphasized the importance of these scheduled maintenance activities. The company assured residents that the work would enhance system efficiency and prevent unplanned outages in the future.
While such interruptions are a temporary inconvenience, they are critical for sustaining reliable power delivery across the country. Residents and businesses are encouraged to make necessary adjustments during the maintenance period.
