Uganda Drops Yellow Fever Card Requirement for Travellers
The clarification was issued by Uganda’s Ministry of Internal Affairs through the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control in a letter responding to an inquiry from the Uganda Tourism Board.
The immigration department confirmed that the vaccination certificate is not currently required as an entry document.

“Accordingly, travellers to Uganda do not require a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate for entry.”
Yellow fever card removed from entry requirements
According to the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, the yellow fever vaccination certificate is also not listed among the requirements on Uganda’s e-visa application portal.
The clarification provides guidance to travellers who may previously have carried yellow fever vaccination cards when preparing to cross into Uganda.
It means travellers, including Kenyans visiting Uganda, do not need to present the certificate as a condition of entry based on the latest clarification from Uganda’s immigration authorities.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs directed people seeking additional information to contact its Public Relations office.
Uganda clarifies position for travellers
Health documentation, travel insurance, visas and immigration requirements remain among the measures travellers need to check before crossing regional borders.

The latest clarification by Uganda is therefore expected to provide greater certainty for tourists, business travellers and other visitors planning trips to the country.
The development is also relevant to the region’s tourism sector, where simplified travel procedures can affect movement between East African countries.
Tanzania maintains travel insurance requirement
The requirement applies to visitors arriving by land, sea or air and costs about Ksh5,700, equivalent to USD44.
The insurance cover is valid for up to 92 days.
Citizens of Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states are also exempt under the policy.
Kenya health insurance requirement challenged
Kenya has also introduced its own inbound travel health insurance framework for non-Kenyan visitors.
The different measures across the region highlight the need for travellers to confirm entry requirements with official immigration and government authorities before travelling.
For Uganda, the latest official clarification is that a yellow fever vaccination certificate is not required for entry.

Travellers will, however, still be required to meet other applicable immigration and entry conditions when visiting the country.
