“DV-2027 Is Not Open” — U.S. Government Warns Public
In a statement released on Wednesday, the U.S. Consular Affairs Office addressed the growing misinformation circulating online. Many websites and individuals have falsely claimed that the DV-2027 registration is active.
“The Diversity Visa (DV) 2027 entry registration period is not open at this time,” the statement read. “We are aware of reports of fraudulent claims that the DV-2027 entry is open and of individuals and services falsely claiming they can increase your chances of selection. This is not true.”
“Only trust information from the U.S. Department of State,” the statement urged. “Do not pay anyone who claims they can improve your chances.”
This year, the stakes are even higher due to new changes in the application process.
“New Fees Introduced” — DV-2027 Will Require Payment to Enter
For the first time, applicants will be required to pay a $1 (Ksh130) electronic registration fee when submitting their entry. This fee will apply once the registration officially opens.
“The new fee will be in addition to the mandatory $330 (Ksh42,619) application fee paid by applicants selected for interviews,” the Department announced on October 8.
The policy aims to distribute administrative costs more fairly among all registrants.
“No Refunds, No Transfers” — Applicants Must Proceed With Caution
“Registration fees will not be refunded, regardless of lottery results or whether applicants move forward with a visa application,” the statement added.
This means applicants must be fully aware of the terms before submitting their entries.
