Six Children Found Dead in Tharaka Nithi as County Sounds Alarm on Suspected Child Trafficking Ring
Fear has gripped Tharaka Nithi residents after six children were found dead in chillingly similar circumstances. Authorities now suspect a dangerous child trafficking and murder syndicate could be behind the rising incidents.
Shockingly, the bodies of all six children were discovered within just two months. Some had been abandoned lifeless near the Bonanza Children’s Home in Chuka, suggesting a deliberate pattern.
County Official Calls for Urgent Investigations
Kelly Rwigi, the County Gender and Children’s Chief Officer, expressed deep concern over the disturbing trend.
“This month and last month, we have had over six cases of children who were found dead,” she revealed grimly.
Rwigi went on, “What we are not able to know is whether the cases could be cult-related or just plain cases of individuals who want to get rid of children.”
Her voice broke with urgency as she pleaded, “We want to ask the investigative agencies to come to our rescue and tell us who is behind these.”

Only One Child Found Alive
In a heartbreaking detail, Rwigi disclosed, “Only one child had been found alive so far, with the rest being discovered after they had already died.”
She raised another red flag by noting a gender pattern in the victims.
“The main issue here is that this seems to be along a particular gender—the boy child.”
This revelation has deepened suspicions and fears among locals, many of whom now live in constant anxiety.
Community Urged to Act
The county government is now appealing to the public to speak out. Authorities believe community intelligence could be key to cracking the network.
Rwigi implored, “We are asking residents, if you know anything or see anything unusual, please report it. These children need our voices.”
A toll-free number—1513—has been issued to allow residents to report any suspicious activities involving children.
County Vows Tough Action
In a bold move, the county government issued a stern warning to any individuals ferrying children into the region with ill motives.
Officials said they “will not hesitate to take stern action against anyone found culpable.”
This case has drawn comparisons to the 2019 Nakuru incident, where 41 street children were allegedly dumped in a forest. Now, Tharaka Nithi finds itself at the center of a horrifying and emotional storm.
Community Left in Fear
Locals are shaken. Parents are more vigilant. Schools have tightened security. And now, all eyes are on law enforcement.

Will justice be served before another innocent life is lost?
