Ruto to Meet Grammy Organisers in First US Visit Since Trump’s Return
Speaking from Nairobi, the Head of State said he intends to use the trip to secure global opportunities for Kenya’s creative industry. He noted that music, film, and art remain untapped sectors with immense potential for young people.
Focus on the Grammys
Ruto confirmed that part of his agenda will include a high-level meeting with Grammy Awards organisers. He explained that Kenya needs international partnerships to compete on the world stage.

“I will meet Grammy organisers to explore how we can establish world-class music studios in Kenya,” Ruto declared. “Our artists deserve spaces that can elevate their craft to global levels.”
The announcement sparked excitement across the entertainment sector. Many local artists believe this could open the door to global recognition for Kenyan talent.
Youth at the Center
Ruto stressed that the creative industry is more than entertainment. He described it as a multi-billion-dollar sector that can transform lives if fully supported.
“The youth hold incredible talent,” he said. “By creating proper facilities, we will empower them to compete globally and earn decently from their work.”
Reactions from Artists
Kenyan musicians and producers quickly responded with optimism. Some said they hope Ruto’s trip will lead to real investment, not just promises.
Singer Nadia Mukami expressed hope, stating: “If this plan succeeds, it will change everything for us. We have talent but lack exposure and facilities.”
Similarly, producer Eric Musyoka said: “We need global-standard studios here at home. This will keep artists from seeking opportunities abroad.”
A Strategic US Visit

However, the President insisted that the creative economy will remain a priority during the visit. He pointed out that music and film carry cultural power that can reshape Kenya’s image abroad.
“This is about putting Kenya on the global creative map,” Ruto concluded.
