Itumbi Dismisses Claims of Fake Boda Bodas at Ruto’s State House Youth Forum
Several participants accused the government of failing to deliver motorcycles they posed with during the highly publicized event.
One youth told Citizen TV:
“After the photos, they told us the motorcycles would be delivered later. Up to now, we have received nothing.”
Another group of 50 young people also said they were promised media equipment but never got it.
The allegations triggered anger online, with many branding the event a hoax.
Itumbi Speaks Out Strongly

He called the reports misleading and attacked the media outlet for spreading misinformation.
“Kindly avoid being used as a platform for fake news and misinformation. No items were issued to individuals. The empowerment targeted 1,150 groups, each consisting of 10 people,” Itumbi said.
Itumbi explained that motorcycles were distributed to groups, not individuals. He stressed that only group chairmen collected items for orderly distribution.
He also hinted that the programme would continue.
“Deceit and lies – Nairobi Empowerment season two will follow,” he added.
Senator Karen Nyamu Defends Programme
Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, who was mentioned in the allegations, also dismissed the claims.

She insisted that all youths registered under her had received motorcycles.
Nyamu acknowledged a few gaps but downplayed them.
“Any omissions were minimal, maybe one or two individuals at most,” she said.
State House Responds
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed also stepped in to set the record straight.
“A total of 1,100 registered groups from Nairobi submitted proposals. All were approved, all funded, all received. Each group had 10 members, with a chairperson delivering the projects for an orderly process. That’s 11,000 people in total,” Hussein explained.
He blasted the media for sensationalism.
“Citizen TV interviews just two individuals, skips questions about the actual process, and then claims ‘unfulfilled promises’ without fact-checking with State House.”
What Next for the Youths?
Despite reassurances, doubts still linger among sections of the youth. Many continue demanding accountability and proof of the empowerment projects.
