ODM MP Jared Okelo Pledges Full Support for Ruto’s Bills: “I’ll Close My Eyes”

Nyando, Kenya – Nyando MP Jared Odoyo Okelo made a bold promise to back all of President William Ruto’s bills. Speaking at a lively public gathering, the ODM lawmaker vowed to prioritize national progress over party politics.

Focus on Unity and Progress

Okelo explained his decision to support Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration without hesitation. “As an MP, my job is to pass laws that govern this country,” he said. “I will support every government-sponsored bill.”

He dismissed criticism and firmly added, “Whether they call me a sycophant, I don’t care. I’ll close my eyes and support expert-driven issues.”

“As an MP, we do so many things, including legislation and passing all the relevant laws that govern this country. So, moving forward, I want to support every piece of legislation that will come from the government. Whether they call me a sycophant, I don’t care. I want to close my eyes and support issues that shall be brought forth by the experts that we gave him,” Okelo told the crowd.

Ruto’s Cabinet Reshuffle Sparks Cooperation

The MP linked his decision to Ruto’s reshuffled Cabinet, which included ODM leaders. The changes came after intense protests earlier this year. Ruto appointed ODM members to key government positions, signaling a collaborative approach.

Okelo praised the appointments and called the new leaders “experts” ready to improve governance. He stressed, “Opposing their Bills would defy logic and contradict my principles. These are people from our own party.”

He also highlighted the need for continuity. “Ruto trusted ODM leaders to deliver. I cannot reject their contributions now,” he said.

Encouraging National Unity

Makadara MP George Aladwa echoed Okelo’s call for collaboration. He applauded Ruto’s broad-based governance model and urged Kenyans to end divisive politics.

“Kenyans must unite and support Ruto’s administration. Let’s work for peace and progress,” Aladwa stated.

Aladwa also rallied citizens to back Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship. He emphasized that unity across political divides is essential for Kenya’s future.

As Parliament prepares to resume in February, Okelo’s declaration marks a shift in Kenya’s political climate. His commitment to cooperation has sparked both debate and hope for greater national unity.
