Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has finally broken the silence surrounding Raila Odinga’s health and whereabouts. Speaking to the press on Thursday, October 9, Oburu confirmed that the ODM party leader had been unwell but is now recovering.

“He Was Slightly Indisposed”—Oburu Dispels Grave Illness Rumours

Oburu addressed growing speculation about Raila’s condition, which had sparked panic among supporters and critics alike.

“There have been a lot of rumours about our party leader,” Oburu said. “That he is very sick, almost dying, and completely out,” he added.

He clarified that Raila only suffered a mild illness and is now recuperating.

“He is out and about, just like any other human being who was indisposed a little,” Oburu explained. “He is now resting and recovering,” he assured.

“He Is in India”—Oburu Reveals Raila’s Location

Oburu went further to disclose Raila’s exact location, dismissing claims that he was in the US or Dubai.

“He is in India. People should not say they do not know where he is,” Oburu stated. “He is not in the US or Dubai as alleged,” he emphasized.

He assured Kenyans that Raila would return soon to resume his political duties.

“Very soon you will see him back,” Oburu promised.

Earlier in the week, Raila’s wife Ida Odinga also dismissed the rumours during a public address in Migori County.

“People have been disturbed by rumours claiming Raila is sick,” Ida said. “If his condition were serious, I would have taken him to a hospital here in Migori,” she added.

She questioned how outsiders could claim to know Raila’s health better than she does.

“How can someone who does not live with him claim to know his health status?” Ida asked. “Baba is okay,” she affirmed.

“He Just Needed Rest”—ODM Officials Echo Family’s Statement

ODM Communications Director Philip Etale also weighed in, saying Raila had travelled abroad to rest and recharge.

“He is well. He just needed a break from the political spotlight,” Etale said.

As Raila recovers in India, his family and party continue to urge Kenyans to ignore false reports and await his return.
