Kimani Wamatangi Cries Foul After EACC Raid, Claims It’s Political Witch Hunt: “Ni Shauri Yenu”
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi is crying foul after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) raided county offices in a surprise crackdown. The probe, which focuses on alleged financial and procurement misconduct, has sparked political drama and growing tension across Kiambu.
Speaking during a public event in Chania Ward, Gatundu North, Wamatangi dismissed the raid as a politically motivated attack. He claimed the investigation is a direct response to his growing popularity, especially after receiving overwhelming support during President William Ruto’s Mount Kenya tour.
“You Can’t Break Me”
While distributing farm inputs like maize seeds, fertiliser, kienyeji chicks, piglets, and avocado seedlings, Wamatangi spoke boldly.
“We have said, do not even try to make false accusations or bring those things up, because you already ruined your own reputation on the ground,” he stated.
He didn’t stop there.
“Wamatangi will not be tarnished by you. Wamatangi knows how to organise himself on the ground. Even if you got angry over there in Githunguri, your anger is your own problem.”
His words drew applause from local residents, some of whom see him as a hands-on leader closely connected to the common mwananchi.

A Show of Strength—And Rivalry
This heated response follows Wamatangi’s high-profile moment during Ruto’s Githunguri tour. The governor was received with loud cheers, unlike some senior leaders who struggled to speak.
Notably, Kiambu Woman Rep Ann Wamuratha was booed, while Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah didn’t even get a chance to address the crowd. The scenes signaled shifting political loyalties—and Wamatangi’s rising star.
However, his critics argue that popularity doesn’t equal integrity. For now, the EACC remains tight-lipped on the investigation’s outcome, fueling speculation and anxiety.
Politics or Justice?
The big question remains: is Wamatangi being targeted for his growing influence—or are there real grounds for the EACC’s actions?
For now, the governor stands firm. His parting shot during the event summed up his mood.
“Ni shauri yenu,” he declared, his tone defiant, leaving no doubt that he views the probe as a political setup.
As investigations continue, all eyes remain fixed on Kiambu, where politics and justice seem to be on a collision course.
