Kenya Power Announces Electricity Interruptions in 9 Counties on Wednesday, February 26

Nairobi, Kenya – Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced planned electricity interruptions in nine counties on Wednesday, February 26. The utility firm stated that the outages, set to begin at 8:30 AM, are part of scheduled maintenance aimed at improving service delivery.

Affected Counties and Areas

1. Nairobi County

  • Kangemi (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) – Muratha Road, Hinga Road, Gichagi Road, Kangemi Primary and High Schools, Bottom Line, Shangilia, Ananda Marga Academy, Kangemi Dallas, Kihumbuini Primary, Co-op Bank, and adjacent areas.
  • Umoja 2 (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM) – Umoja 2 Estate, St. Veronicah Catholic Church, Busara Primary, Peter Kibukosya Primary and Secondary School, Kifaru, Tumaini Primary, and nearby customers.

2. Kakamega County

  • Lukume Market (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – Lukume Market, Bukhakunga, Imbiakalo, Sawasawa, Burundu, Shihome, Power Spot Residence, and adjacent customers.

3. Kisii County

  • Rianyoka, Nyamasibi (8:30 AM – 4:00 PM) – Nyamagesa, Rianyoka, Nyamasibi, Bonyakoni Secondary, Keroka Hill Top Hotel, Ichuni Girls, Nyaturago Secondary, Hema Chitago Secondary, and adjacent areas.

4. Embu County

  • Ishiara Polytechnic (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) – Ishiara Polytechnic and surrounding areas.

5. Meru County

  • Ntugi, Kisima, Marania (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) – Ntugi Market, Kibirichia Market, Ntirimiti Base Station, Muruguma Market, Murinya Market, Kanguambi, Ruibi, Naari, Kimbo Market, Marania, Kironya, Kathatene, Kaburiko, Kongoni Farm, AA Growers, Kisima Farm, Uhuru Flowers, PJ Dave, Kisima Secondary, Timaflow, Bloomingdale, and other nearby customers.

6. Kiambu County

  • Ruaka, Ndenderu Road (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – Cytton, St. Peters Hospital, Gacharage, Total Gacharage, Ndenderu, Kahingo Stage, Club Decimal, and nearby customers.
  • St. Linda, Gatong’ora (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – Gwa Kairu, Riverside, Thome, St. Linda, Gatong’ora, Miti Kenda, Karuguru, Mashinani, Kiratina, Bypass Corner, Green Valley, Silicon Valley, Tiverton, Mutonya Dispensary, Kwa China, and adjacent areas.

7. Kitui County

  • Thitani Market, Kanyaa (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – Thitani Market, Kavoloi Market, Kanyaa Market, Kitulani Secondary School, Mathunzini Market, Ngongoni Market, Yenzuva, Mavui Market, Kyusyani Market, Nzuli Secondary School, Kasavini Primary School, and surrounding areas.

8. Kilifi County

  • Mwango, Mtondia, Tezo (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) – Parts of Mwango, Mkoroshoni, Basi, Mzongoloni, Mtondia, Tezo, Chumani, Magorani, Zowerani, Ngerenya, Roka, and nearby customers.

9. Kwale County

  • Msambweni Hospital (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) – Vingujini, Sawasawa Beach, Msambweni Referral Hospital, Msambweni Beach House, KMTC Msambweni, and surrounding customers.

Power Outage Alert: These Nine Counties Will Experience Blackouts on February 26!

Kenya Power’s Statement

Kenya Power reassured customers that these scheduled outages are necessary for improving reliability and efficiency.

“We regret the inconvenience caused by these interruptions. Our team is working to ensure a more stable and efficient power supply for all our customers,” the company stated.

Residents in affected areas are advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
