Anyang’ Nyong’o Warns Ruto: ‘Gen Z Uprising Could Restart Soon’If You Ignore Kenyans’
A Ticking Time Bomb
Speaking in Kisumu on Saturday, February 22, during the burial of renowned scholar Professor Bethwell Allan Ogot, Nyong’o stated that public discontent is rising. He urged the government to listen to ordinary citizens before it is too late.
“The government was doing things that did not make the citizens happy. We all made the noise as those who’ve been in the struggle supporting the people and their cause,” he said.
He warned that if the administration remains deaf to grassroots concerns, Kenya could witness another uprising like the Gen Z-led protests of 2024.
ODM Won’t Save the Government Again
Nyong’o made it clear that the opposition, especially the ODM party under Raila Odinga, will not step in to stabilize the country if the government fails to act.

“As we know where Kenya is headed, like Raila Odinga came and saved this country. We don’t want to be always putting out the fire,” he emphasized.
He insisted that those in power must take responsibility and address issues affecting Kenyans.
“A Fire Can Break Out Anytime”
Nyong’o painted a grim picture of Kenya’s future if the leadership continues ignoring the struggles of ordinary citizens.
“We want those in government to always know that a fire can break out at any time if the country is not taken care of,” he warned.
He stressed that ODM would only intervene if the government proves willing to implement real change.
“We will only put out the fire if we know who we are talking to will implement what the country wants,” he said.
Government’s Next Move?
The government has yet to respond to Nyong’o’s remarks. However, political analysts believe his warning reflects the growing frustration among Kenyans, especially the youth.
