Gachagua Ally Peter Kawanjiru Allegedly Abducted By Police, Family Says
Tension continues to rise in Limuru and across the nation after the sudden disappearance of Peter Kawanjiru, a known political ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. His family now claims that he was forcibly abducted by men believed to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday night.
“They said they were from DCI Kiambu Road”
According to family members, chaos erupted at around 8:30pm when more than 10 unmarked vehicles stormed their compound in Limuru.
“They said they were from DCI Kiambu Road and were looking for someone named Kawanjiru. When we refused to open, they started hitting the door with metal rods.”
The family alleges that the intruders, who wore civilian clothes, never showed a warrant. They also refused to state the reason for the violent arrest.
“I asked them, ‘Has he killed someone? Has he stolen?’ but they said, ‘We’re just doing the job we were sent to do,’” another family member revealed.
“Live bullets were fired… people ran in all directions”
Eyewitnesses say the night raid turned more dramatic when gunshots were fired into the air to scare off the growing crowd.

“People started gathering. But when they began shooting, we all ran. It was terrifying,” said a neighbour.
The standoff reportedly lasted for over four hours. Since then, the youth leader’s whereabouts remain unknown. The family has made desperate visits to police stations in Kiambu and Nairobi.
“We’ve checked every station we could think of. No one knows where Peter is,” the relative said in despair.
“He was vocal against the government”

Peter Kawanjiru, who serves as a youth leader in the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), has been loud in his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration. He is well-known for popularizing the “Wan Tam” slogans against the government’s economic failures.
His arrest now follows a worrying pattern. Just a month ago, Juja MP George Koimburi – another ally of Gachagua – was also allegedly abducted. Though the DCI dismissed his case as staged, Koimburi later refuted the claims, saying he was grabbed outside church and left traumatised.
“Wanjiku Thiga also missing”
Shockingly, another DCP official, Wanjiku Thiga, has also been reported missing.
“I’ve just been abducted at Kamakis!” she wrote on her X account shortly before her phone went silent.
The alleged abductions have sparked outrage online. Many Kenyans are now questioning the rise of political intimidation and disappearances.
“This is not law enforcement, it’s oppression,” tweeted one angry netizen.
“If he’s guilty, take him to court. Don’t disappear our youth,” another added.
As the mystery deepens, pressure mounts on authorities to come clean about Kawanjiru’s fate.
