DCI Summons Ndiangui Kinyagia Hours After Resurfacing From Hiding, Appearing in Court
A fresh twist has emerged in the case of activist and IT expert Ndiangui Kinyagia, who reappeared on Thursday morning after 13 days of disappearance.
Shortly after his return, the National Police Service (NPS) issued a stern directive. The statement ordered Kinyagia to present himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) without delay.
NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, in a Thursday evening statement, said Kinyagia must record a statement immediately. He clarified that the activist is a “person of interest” in ongoing investigations.

“Ndiangui had been reported missing, and information circulating on social as well as mainstream media accused the Police Service of allegedly abducting him,” Nyaga stated.
But the NPS insisted it had no role in his disappearance.
“The Service reiterates its earlier response that Ndiangui Kinyagia was not in police custody,” the statement read firmly.
Police Slam “Fake Abductions”
However, this case has triggered wider concerns. The NPS condemned what it called a growing trend of staged abductions, labelling them as criminal and deeply misleading.

“We take great exception to the emerging trend whereby individuals feign abduction and provide false information,” said Nyaga. “It creates misleading narratives.”
He warned that those caught faking their disappearances could face serious consequences. Such actions, he noted, erode public trust and undermine the integrity of law enforcement.
“This is not just unethical, it’s a punishable crime,” he added sharply.
Public Outcry and Legal Action
Ndiangui’s sudden disappearance on June 22 from his Kinoo home in Kiambu County had sparked national outrage. Witnesses had alleged that unknown individuals took him forcefully

In the days that followed, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and various human rights organizations filed petitions demanding his release. Online campaigns amplified the pressure.
But in a stunning revelation, Kinyagia’s family lawyer on Thursday confirmed that he had not been abducted. He had been hiding.
“He went into hiding out of fear of arrest,” the lawyer revealed.
Call for Justice and Truth
With the NPS now demanding accountability, all eyes are on Kinyagia. The public remains divided — some seek justice, others demand the truth.
Meanwhile, the police reassured Kenyans of their commitment to impartiality and constitutional integrity.

“We remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards and maintaining public trust,” the statement concluded.
