The suspect was arrested on the evening of Tuesday, July 15, following the death of Edward Maingi Ndegwa, a male patient who had been admitted to Ward 7B on July 11, 2025.
According to hospital staff, everything appeared normal in the hours leading to the tragedy.
“I took his blood pressure at 11:30 am and everything was fine,” a nurse recalled.
“At 12:30 pm, a relative visited and left at 1:30 pm, finding him stable,” she added.

“I was cleaning the corridor when I saw blood dripping from the patient’s bed,” said the shaken cleaner.
Panic spread fast. Hospital security quickly alerted DCI homicide detectives. The crime scene was sealed immediately.
Investigators swiftly followed a trail of bloody slipper prints from the victim’s bedside. The trail led them to a toilet, and finally to a side room where the suspect had been admitted.
Inside, detectives discovered a pair of blue slippers and a blood-stained bedsheet. But the most damning find was a knife wrapped in gloves, hidden carefully.
“The knife, gloves, and slippers were taken to the National Forensic Laboratory for analysis,” confirmed a DCI source.
