CCTV Footage Captures Moments Before Fatal Nyayo Stadium Road Rage Stabbing
The footage, now forming a crucial part of police investigations, captures a sequence of events that investigators believe culminated in a fatal stabbing that has shocked Kenyans and renewed calls for restraint during road disputes.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m., left Ngeno dead and several other people injured. Detectives have since arrested the main suspect, who is expected to face charges as investigations continue.

CCTV Reveals Sequence of Events
According to investigators familiar with the footage, three vehicles can be seen stopping abruptly along the busy highway.
The footage then shows the driver of the Suzuki taxi leaving his vehicle and walking toward the occupants of the white car.
Police believe the taxi driver began recording the occupants using his mobile phone, an action that appears to have triggered objections from individuals in the other vehicles.
Investigators say the video shows one individual attempting to knock the suspect’s phone away, apparently to prevent him from filming.
What initially appeared to be a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a heated exchange involving several people.
Confrontation Escalates Into Violence
As tensions rose, the suspect is seen returning briefly to his Suzuki taxi before rejoining the confrontation.
Witnesses told investigators that the suspect appeared to threaten the group before the altercation turned physical.
The CCTV footage reportedly shows the suspect, dressed in a black hoodie and tracksuit, engaging several individuals before allegedly stabbing one of them during the struggle.
The footage allegedly captures the suspect catching up with Ngeno before stabbing him several times, including wounds to the chest.
Ngeno collapsed moments later as shocked bystanders rushed to assist him.

Suspect Filmed Aftermath
One of the most striking moments captured on the CCTV footage shows the suspect recording the aftermath of the incident using his phone.
According to investigators, he is heard claiming that he had been attacked and had acted in self-defence.
Ngeno was initially rushed to Mbagathi Hospital, where emergency medical personnel attempted to stabilize him.
However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Autopsy Confirms Cause of Death
A post-mortem examination conducted after the incident established that Ngeno died from multiple stab wounds.
Detectives say the autopsy findings are consistent with evidence gathered from the crime scene and the CCTV recordings.
Lawyer Maintains Self-Defence Claim
The suspect’s legal team has rejected allegations that their client attempted to escape after the incident.
Instead, his lawyer maintains that the suspect voluntarily surrendered to police after the confrontation.
“My client did not flee. He voluntarily presented himself to the police. He was heavily outnumbered and acted in self-defence,” the defence lawyer said.
The self-defence claim is expected to form a central part of the suspect’s case as criminal proceedings begin.

However, investigators have indicated that they are carefully examining all available evidence, including CCTV footage, witness statements and forensic findings, before making recommendations to prosecutors.
Investigation Continues
Police have appealed to members of the public who witnessed the incident or possess additional video recordings to cooperate with investigators.
Authorities say the CCTV footage provides significant insight into the incident but emphasize that the final determination of criminal liability will be made through the judicial process.
As detectives continue piecing together the events of that morning, Kennedy Ngeno’s family is demanding justice, while the case has become another stark reminder of how ordinary disagreements on Kenyan roads can end in devastating tragedy.
