CCTV Captures Chaos as Goons Storm Irungu Nyakera’s Kisumu Hotel
CCTV footage has revealed dramatic scenes of destruction after a group of armed individuals stormed a hotel owned by former government official Irungu Nyakera in Kisumu, vandalising property and allegedly assaulting staff members during an early morning attack.
According to accounts from the hotel owner, the incident occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, when dozens of individuals reportedly armed with crude weapons forced their way into the premises.
Security camera footage from the property shows the group approaching the entrance gate before overpowering the security officer stationed there. Moments later, the individuals are seen entering the hotel compound and spreading through various sections of the facility.
Within minutes, the situation escalated into chaos as the intruders began damaging equipment and property.
The footage shows the group moving quickly through the premises before converging on the bar and kitchen area, where several individuals were captured destroying furniture and equipment believed to be part of the hotel’s operational facilities.

At approximately 5:17 a.m., the attackers were seen cutting and smashing items around the bar counter area, including what appeared to be kitchen appliances and service equipment.
According to Nyakera, the individuals also targeted employees working at the hotel during the early morning shift.
He claimed that some staff members were physically assaulted during the attack and that one of the security guards was restrained by the attackers before they continued vandalising the premises.
“The goons who stormed the hotel attacked workers and tied up a lady guard before proceeding to damage property,” Nyakera stated while describing the incident.
“I believe the goons were sent by my political opponents. I was present at the hotel during the time of the attack,” Nyakera said.
The incident has raised concerns among business operators in the region about safety and security, particularly during early morning hours when many establishments operate with minimal staff and limited security personnel.
Following the attack, Nyakera said that significant damage had been inflicted on the property. According to him, hotel records were destroyed and several items were either vandalised or taken away by the intruders.
The total value of the damaged property has not yet been determined, but the destruction is believed to include furniture, kitchen equipment, and other operational materials.
Some staff members are also reported to have sustained injuries during the incident, though details regarding the severity of the injuries have not been officially confirmed.

Nyakera further claimed that attempts to seek immediate assistance from local authorities were unsuccessful.
“I sought help from the area OCS, but no assistance was provided at the time of the attack,” he alleged.
Authorities have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the incident, and it remains unclear whether investigations have been launched to identify the individuals involved.
The footage is expected to assist law enforcement agencies in reconstructing the sequence of events and identifying those who participated in the raid.
Meanwhile, Nyakera has called for swift action from security agencies, urging authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.

As investigations unfold, the attack has drawn attention to the challenges faced by business owners in protecting property and staff in an increasingly complex security environment.
