Babu Owino Denounces Doctored Video Alleging Attack on Raila Odinga

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has come out swinging against what he calls a malicious attempt to tarnish his loyalty to ODM leader Raila Odinga. On Saturday evening, Owino flagged a doctored video circulating online that falsely portrayed him attacking Raila during a past rally.

“This Is Political Sabotage,” Babu Owino Declares

Taking to social media, Owino shared the full version of the video, which he says was recorded in Suna East in 2024. The rally was part of Raila’s campaign for the African Union (AU) Chairperson seat.

“My political enemies have edited the video to push a false narrative,” Owino stated. “They spliced my comments about Ruto to make it look like I was attacking Baba,” he added.

In the original footage, Owino passionately urged Raila to organize one final protest against President William Ruto’s administration.

“Baba, before you go to AU, please organise one more protest so we finish this man (Ruto),” Owino said.

However, in the manipulated version, his remarks were twisted to appear as criticism of Raila himself.

Loyalty to Raila Remains Unshaken

Despite political turbulence and shifting alliances, Owino has consistently supported Raila. Even after ODM signed a 10-point Memorandum of Understanding with UDA, Owino remained vocal in his opposition to the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“I’ve never insulted my party leader. We may differ on strategy, but I respect him deeply,” Owino affirmed.

His critics, however, continue to question his allegiance, especially as he aligns with the Kenya Moja movement—a youthful political wave gaining momentum.

Kenya Moja Movement Gains Ground

Owino has joined forces with other young leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, to push the Kenya Moja agenda. Although both remain ODM members, they have openly criticized Ruto’s leadership.

“We want a united, progressive Kenya. That’s what Kenya Moja stands for,” Sifuna said recently.

Speculation is also growing around Owino’s possible bid for Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat in 2027.

Public Calls for Truth and Accountability

Kenyans online have rallied behind Owino, demanding transparency and condemning political smear tactics.

“Editing videos to mislead the public is dangerous. We must protect truth,” said a concerned voter.

As the political heat rises, Owino’s message is clear: loyalty, truth, and justice must prevail.
